Did you do a Ctrl-Shft-k (compile All) and a Ctrl-T (generate) before pressing the run form button?

How many tnsnames.ora files do you have on your PC? I would suggest searching for 'tnsnames.ora' in this forum but search appears to be broken at the moment.

Can you get 'SQL*Plus working against your database? If yes, then create an environment variable called 'tns_admin' and point it at the directory that holds the database copy of 'tnsnames.ora'.

I already set TNS_ADMIN

set TNS_ADMIN=D:\ORACLE\PRDUCT\10.2.0\DB_1\NETWORK\ADMIN\

my tnsnames.ora file is in this path

My TNSNAMES.ora file is look like this

# tnsnames.ora Network Configuration File: E:\oracle\product\10.2.0\db_1\network\admin\tnsnames.ora
# Generated by Oracle configuration tools.

ORCL =
  (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = server)(PORT = 1522))
    (CONNECT_DATA =
      (SERVER = DEDICATED)
      (SERVICE_NAME = orcl)
    )
  )

EXTPROC_CONNECTION_DATA =
  (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS_LIST =
      (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = IPC)(KEY = EXTPROC1))
    )
    (CONNECT_DATA =
      (SID = PLSExtProc)
      (PRESENTATION = RO)
    )
  )

i have more then 4 tnsnames.ora file

what can i do now

Yo! LOOK at your post!! You have 'D:' in the tns_admin and 'E:' in the Network Configuration file.

its a type error

actually i set e:\

any way i set TNS_ADMIN again on
E:\oracle\product\10.2.0\db_1\network\admin

But still same problem

David i recognise one thing

when i compile the form and connect with

scott/tiger its connect

but when i write

scott/tiger@orcl its give me error

TNS No listener

My listener Configuration is

Quote:
# listener.ora Network Configuration File: E:\oracle\product\10.2.0\db_1\network\admin\listener.ora
# Generated by Oracle configuration tools.

SID_LIST_LISTENER =
(SID_LIST =
(SID_DESC =
(SID_NAME = PLSExtProc)
(ORACLE_HOME = E:\oracle\product\10.2.0\db_1)
(PROGRAM = extproc)
)
)

LISTENER =
(DESCRIPTION_LIST =
(DESCRIPTION =
(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = IPC)(KEY = EXTPROC1))
(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = SERVER)(PORT = 1524))
)
)

Its required to make listener on single pc i mean i have only server no client so its required to make listener in server?

Just for the hell of it, rename the 'listener.ora' to something else and update your 'tnsnames.ora' so that it looks like the following.

LISTENER_ORCL =
  (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = mypc.local)(PORT = 1522))

AXE_127.0.0.1 =
  (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS_LIST =
      (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = 127.0.0.1)(PORT = 1521))
    )
    (CONNECT_DATA =
      (SID = XE)
      (SERVER = DEDICATED)
    )
  )

This is based on my configuration of /forum/fa/6171/0/

To connect to the database use the database name AXE_127.0.0.1, so that would be scott/tiger@AXE_127.0.0.1 Use SQL*Plus to do the initial testing.

If this works you can reduce the name to just AXE, so something.

David

PS You will have to change the port numbers.

I rename my Listener.ora file and change my TNSNAMES.ORA file

LISTENER_ORCL =
  (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = server)(PORT = 1522))

AXE_127.0.0.1 =
  (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS_LIST =
      (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = 127.0.0.1)(PORT = 1521))
    )
    (CONNECT_DATA =
      (SID = ORCL)
      (SERVER = DEDICATED)
    )
  )

but i don't have any domain i am using workgroup

another think i install oracle 10g suit and database in 5 different pc all contain same problem

as you mansion when i connect with scott/tiger@AXE_127.0.0.1 its give me error

SQL> conn
Enter user-name: scott/tiger@AXE_127.0.0.1
ERROR:
ORA-12154: TNS:could not resolve the connect identifier specified

but i can ping axe_127.0.0.1 its work fine

with OK 20msec

and when i connect with scott/tiger its connect with database

SQL> conn
Enter user-name: scott/tiger
Connected.
SQL>
