Check whether use of TNS_ADMIN environment variable helps in solving the problem (search the board; it's already been discussed).

Dear i read this thread. I don't have tns_admin problem. I have same tnsnames.ora both in oracle home and developer home. I connects fine but while fetching data it give this error "ORA-12571: TNS:packet writer failure". I search this problem on Google.com it shows me this is error of SQLNET.ora. I don't know how to solve them. I have attached both sqlnet of databse and developer. please look at them and then guide me about that problem. If you need i am going to attache tnsnames.ora file here. Also take view of that.

I just coppied tnsname.ora file of database to developer admin folder and replace the existing with new. which i attached here.

And one more point to notes may database is working fine. Because i check it with SQL*Plus prompt. It works fine but problem come when i try to get data via developer from...

Best Regards

The 'tns_admin' threads will solve your 'tnsnames.ora' problem by telling you to specify which copy of the 'tnsnames.ora' to use and to NOT waste your time maintaining two OR MORE copies of the 'tnsnames.ora' file.

Do one thing copy all .ora files from oracle 9i directory to developer 6i directory
and connect your form to DB this will work fine.

Yea, right! NOT!!

Just use 'tns_admin' and save yourself a world of pain.
